I really wish all of the ignorant Obama haters would realize this instead of blaming Obama for what he has been trying to fix from the previous four years.

I always keep my own political position officially neutral on my tumblr, because arguing with people over your core beliefs is completely futile 100% of the time, so I just close myself off from it. That said, and hopefully still maintaining a neutral position, I believe every politician screws over their people. All in different ways, but I can’t think of a single president who has literally had a perfect term. Someone who has fulfilled every promise they’ve made, and brought on policies with unanimous approval. Because of the way our government is structured, one party is going to always get the short end of the stick. No matter how many “good” things a president is doing, there will always be a group of people who feel the opposite, because the good is subjective. Democrats don’t see the “good” things that a republican president does, and republicans don’t see the “good” things that a democratic president is doing. I don’t think it’s fair to play the blame game, when every president since the formation of our government as it is today has “screwed” over a portion of their country, because there has yet to be a unanimous election. And just because someone disagrees with a viewpoint or an action, it doesn’t mean that they’re ignorant. Even when you put politics aside, there are certain things that I’m actually well-educated and informed of, and I still don’t like them or agree with them. A varying viewpoint from your own does not equal an ignorant person, and that’s one of my favorite things about living in America.

It’s like in the great stories; the ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger, they were. And sometimes you didn’t want to know the end. Because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened? But in the end, it’s only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when the sun shines, it will shine out the clearer… Those were the stories that stayed with you, that meant something, even if you were too small to understand why. But I think, I do understand, I know now. Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back, only they didn’t. They kept going. Because they were holding on to something: That there’s some good in this world, and it’s worth fighting for.
